10/22/09: Week 6 North Haven Freshmen 20, Sheehan Freshmen 18

10/22/09:
North Haven Freshmen 6 6 0 8 - 20
Sheehan Freshmen 0 6 0 12 - 18

10/22: North Haven won the toss and deferred their choice to the second half. Sheehan wanted the ball so North Haven kicked off. After not being able to make a first down, the Titans had to punt. Jalon white took the kick on a bounce at midfield and took to the sideline, spinning through tackles, cutting his way back across the field to the other side all the way to the end zone for a touchdown. The PAT kick was blocked so the Indian lead was 6-0. From this point until late in the half, each team put together drives, but neither could score. There were several punts from each, but after North Haven could not capitalize on Sean Donahue's interception, the Titans were given a gift when an Indian pass was ruled an interception when clearly the ball bounced.

10/22: The Titans took over around midfield and moved down with a combination of short passes and runs by their quarterback and scored to tie the game at 6 after the conversion failed. North Haven took the kickoff, but had less than a minute to go. When it got to be 4th and 2 at the 33 second mark, White gained a key first down with a 5 yard run through the left side, then took the next snap with only seconds left on the clock. Following a wall of blockers, White made it the outside and took off down the sideline, sidestepping the last tackler on his way to a 55 yard touchdown run. White's run around the right side on the conversion was denied, so the Indian's took a 12-6 lead into the half. The third quarter was rather uneventful as each team punted a couple of times, but.on the last play of the quarter, a very short Indian punt gave the Titans the ball at midfield.

10/22: On the first play of the 4th quarter, Sheehan's QB let fly a bomb for a 50 yard touchdown, but the ensuing kick was blocked so the score remained tied at 12. White returned the kickoff to midfield and then took off for a 42 yard run on the first play. After 2 plays lost a couple yards, White took a snap and dove for the right pylon eluding his tackler and scoring a 10-yard touchdown. Anthony Ponzio carried in the extra two points on a sweep around the right side to put North Haven up 20-12. After a failed drive by each team, Sheehan got the ball back with under 2 minutes to play and about 60 yards out. A couple of runs mixed with three long passes, the last of which was from 27 yards out to a leaping receiver in the back of the end zone cut the lead to 2. The Titans ran an option to the right side attempting to tie the game with 2, but were denied the rush and North Haven went on to win 20-18.    (Photos)

10/1/09: Week 3 North Haven Freshmen 7, Wilton Freshmen 7

10/1/09:
Wilton Freshmen 0 0 7 0 - 7
North Haven Freshmen 7 0 0 0 - 7

10/1: Wilton won the toss and elected to receive. On their first play from scrimmage, the Warriors fumbled the ball and North Haven recovered. The Indians' first drive came up inches short of a first down in the Warrior red zone and the ball turned over on downs. Wilton couldn't do anything with the ball and punted it back to North Haven. On their first play, Jalon White made it around the left end and took off down the sideline for 42-yard touchdown.

10/1: The PAT that followed gave the Indians a 7-0 lead. Neither team could mount any sort of drive after this until late in the 3rd quarter. When it appeared yet another Wilton drive was stopped, a roughing the punter penalty moved the ball to midfield and the Warriors drive was still alive. But on the next play, the Indians stood up the Wilton ball carrier and Jalon White yanked the ball from his arms.   (565 Photos)

10/1: As White sped untouched to the end zone for an apparent touchdown the referees blew the play dead and said the runner was down. Photos (like the one above) show this clearly not even close to being the case and the blown call allowed Wilton to continue down and score the tying touchdown. A big stop late in the 4th quarter by the Indians' D kept the score tied but there wasn't enough time left and the game ended in a 7-7 tie.

9/16/09: Week 1 Branford Freshmen 12, North Haven Freshmen 6

9/16/09:
Branford Freshmen 0 12 0 0 - 12
North Haven Freshmen 0 0 6 0 - 6

9/16: The rain seemed to know when this game was going to be played as it started right at the opening kickoff and tapered off as the game was coming to a close. The conditions worsened as the field began to take on more water. Neither team could mount any sort of drive as they traded possessions with punts into the second quarter before Branford blocked a punt and took it in from close range to go up 6-0.

9/16: On North Haven's next drive, Shaun Donahue took the snap and faked a handoff as he rolled to the outside, but he overthrew his intended receiver and was picked off along the sideline near midfield. The Hornets moved into the North Haven red zone and culminated their drive with a touchdown pass which put them up 12-0 at the half.

9/16: In the 3rd quarter, a screen pass from the Branford QB tipped off his intended receiver's hands and Jalon White picked it off and took it the other way for a TD to cut the lead to 12-6. Late in the fourth quarter White repeatedly called his own number cutting and slashing his way down to the goal line until it became 4th and goal from the 1. The Hornets stopped the Indians on the next play and took over on downs and then ate up most of the remainder of the quarter to walk away with a rain soaked 12-6 win.
